The Senior Projectionist is responsible for all assigned technical and projection aspects of the four state-of-the-art theaters operated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (Academy Museum) in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles : the Samuel Goldwyn Theater, the Linwood Dunn Theater, the David Geffen Theater, and the Ted Mann Theater. You will provide Academy members, museum guests, and clients with the highest possible technical accuracy across all projected film formats and event types.
This position is represented by a union.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Perform inspections and assessments with proper handling and care of Archive film prints.
- Perform16mm, 35mm, 35mm nitrate, and 70mm changeover projection.
- Identify various video and audio file types used in the post-production process, their reproduction codecs, image resolution, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, and audio track mapping & patching.
- Practice proper safety protocols related to the handling of safety and nitrate film stock, as well as xenon and laser light sources.
- Meet all operational and technical challenges needed for a successful show.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of museum management, in-house projection staff, guest engineers, and Academy technical committees.
- Work well independently and as part of a team when performing projection duties.
- Uphold the Academy standard for exhibition and program excellence.

The expected salary for this role is $60.10 per hour. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
