The Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsboro, a Catholic private school, sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, is based on the educational philosophy of their foundress, St. Julie Billiart. The Academy seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will oversee the financial management of the school. Responsibilities include long-term strategic financial planning, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, investment oversight, and risk management. This individual will report directly to the President and will work closely with members of the Board of Trustees on the Finance Committee and function as a key member of the school's senior staff. The successful candidate will possess independent school or non-profit experience, be a mission driven strategic thinker, possesses solid finance and accounting systems and procedures, expertise in financial forecasting, modeling and analysis, and the ability to work effectively with trustees, faculty, staff, and external constituencies.
Finance:
Establish long-range priorities for operations and capital expenditures for the Academy in conjunction with the President and Board of Directors.
Work with President to prioritize and balance competing needs of the School.
Develop long-range capital and operational budget planning.
Advise President on matters of importance that support the school’s health and sustainability in matters of financial resource management and risk management.
Maintain depreciation and prepaid expense schedules; reconcile deferred revenue and tuition receivables.
Financial operating statements and presentation.
Drive the annual budget process.
Prepare, schedule and oversee annual outside audit.
In conjunction with the President, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors, determine tuition rates and salaries based on projected budgets.
Works with the investment company to monitor endowment holdings.
Review and maintain insurance policies for the school to provide adequate, cost-effective coverage for commercial property, commercial general liability, crime, automobile, boiler and machinery, excess liability, and school leaders error and omissions.
Reconcile Endowment Accounts.
Schedule, attend and participate in Finance Committee Meetings.
Report Finance Committee minutes.
External Operations
Oversee financial investments and banking activities.
Manage risk to ensure safety, property protection, and liability coverage.
Work with outside auditors to conduct the annual audit and oversee all financial procedures and controls in place, making improvements when needed.

Work with other departments to ensure daily operation of the school.
Participate in committees as needed.
Attend school meetings as needed.
Direct Reports:
The CFO supervises one staff member in the areas of billing, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, purchasing, general ledger, cash management, payroll, benefits and human resources.
