The Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington is hiring a Computer Science and Robotics teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
This is a full time role and pays $65,000 to $75,000
The Academy of the Holy Cross is seeking an innovative full-time Computer Science and Robotics Teacher who will inspire students in computational thinking, problem-solving, and engineering design. This position begins in August 2025 and involves teaching Computer Science at various levels, including AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science with opportunities to expand into areas such as artificial intelligence and engineering.

The successful candidate will create student-centered, hands-on learning experiences and foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking through real-world applications of computer science and robotics. They will be expected to invest in the community and engage with students beyond the classroom, in such roles as advisor, team moderator for Robotics, and mentor to budding coders and engineers.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


Computer Science falls under the Science Department at the Academy of the Holy Cross and empowers students to become innovators, creators, and ethical problem solvers in an increasingly digital world. We are seeking a candidate who is eager to build a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and project-based learning environment while working collaboratively with colleagues.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Teach Computer Science courses, including AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, Introduction to Computer Science and Cybersecurity
  • Design and implement engaging, project-based lessons that integrate coding, engineering and computational thinking skills
  • Guide students through the engineering design process, algorithmic thinking, and programming in languages such as Python, Java, or C .
  • Lead and mentor students in VEX robotics competitions
  • Encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration with science, engineering and mathematics courses.
  • Utilize emerging technologies, such as AI tools, cybersecurity practices, and data science applications, to enhance student learning.
  • Provide timely feedback and assessments, communicating with students and parents regularly about progress
  • Serve as a mentor and advisor, fostering supportive learning environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
  • Engage in professional learning and staying current with emerging trends in computer science and robotics education.
  • Participate in departmental and school-wide initiatives, including faculty meetings, professional development, and curriculum planning

REQUIREMENTS:

At least 3 years of teaching experience at the High School level.

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, STEM, educational technology or related field; Master's is preferred.

Familiar with AI data science, cybersecurity or emerging computing fields is a plus.

Ability to integrate technology, interdisciplinary and approaches, and computational thinking across the curriculum

Experience with project-based learning and real-world applications in computer science education.

Enthusiasm for mentoring students in robotics clubs and competitions

Strong knowledge of coding, robotics platforms (e.g., VEX, Arduino, Raspberry Pi), and engineering principles
