The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a Certified Lifeguard for Summer on Bayshore. Under the supervision of the Director of Auxiliary Programs and Camp Director. The individual provides supervision of pool area and outdoor and indoor play for students from age three (3) to fourteen (14); ability to problem solve and make good decisions; and assists the Camp Director as needed. Camp hours are from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Multiple shifts are offered based on weekly or summer availability, examples of shifts are 7:30am-12:30 pm, 12:30 pm-4:30 pm, or a modified full day.
Qualifications
· Current Lifeguard Certification or ability to renew
Position Responsibilities
1. Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and supervision of each camper, from age three (3) to fourteen (14) years of age.
2. Lifeguard is responsible to assist in the camper’s transitions including but not limited to: walking campers back after swimming, directing to the next camp activity and/or to lunch if needed.
3. Lifeguard assists in the management of counselors, campers, and volunteers at and around the pool to provide a safe pool environment
4. Lifeguards must be present and an active supervisor when campers are using the pool.
5. Lifeguard will assist with inside games in the event pool time is canceled due to weather.
6. Lifeguards are required to have current Safe Environment Training (SET) and will participate in an orientation session prior to the first day of Summer Camp.
7. Lifeguards acknowledge that positions may be changed/altered, due to the needs of Summer on Bayshore.
8. In the event of an unforeseeable circumstance where the Lifeguard will be unable to attend the week of a camp, it is their responsibility to notify the Director of Auxiliary Programs and the Summer Camp Director directly by phone and email.
The Certified Lifeguard for Summer on Bayshore reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
