Job Summary:
Academy is seeking a friendly, organized, and empathetic Patient Care Representative to join our team. As a Patient Care Representative, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, creating a welcoming environment and ensuring their overall experience is positive and efficient. This role involves scheduling appointments, managing patient inquiries, and assisting in administrative tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of our practice.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients warmly and ensure a comfortable waiting area
- Schedule patient appointments, ensuring efficient scheduling and minimal wait times
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries with professionalism
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with insurance-related queries
- Collect and update patient demographic and medical history information accurately
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate patient flow and appointment schedules
- Process patient payments and assist with billing inquiries
- Maintain organized and up-to-date patient records
- Manage and handle patient concerns or issues, escalating them as needed
- Assist with office tasks such as filing, scanning, and maintaining supplies
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment
- Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration is a plus
- Proven experience as a patient care representative, front office receptionist, or in a similar administrative role within a medical office setting
- Proficiency in using eClinicalwork electronic health records (EHR) and scheduling systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and over the phone
- Work within physician and practice protocols and know when to seek assistance in situations of exception
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes
- Compassionate and professional demeanor, even during challenging situations
- Technologically savvy with basic computer skills
