As a valued Trainee, you will attend an Accelerated Emergency Medical Responder class from Monday to Friday over a span of 10 days. Upon selection, you will be recognized as a full-time employee of Acadian Ambulance Service. We will cover the costs of your class tuition, materials, and fees, in exchange for your commitment to work as an Emergency Medical Responder for at least one year after you complete the training and pass the certification exam.
Here’s what to expect during the training program :
- The intensive curriculum runs Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.
- The program duration is approximately 10 days.
- The training location is yet to be determined.
- Employment as a trainee is contingent upon satisfactory drug screening, background checks, motor vehicle checks, and passing a physical lift test.
- A Louisiana class D chauffeur's driver’s license is required to work as an Emergency Medical Responder.
- The training course is free of charge, provided you commit to a one-year employment stint after successful completion. Should you not finish the program, you may be liable for the course costs.
- As a Trainee, you will earn $11 per hour, being a full-time employee with benefits while in training. If you are unable to pass the course, your employment will end immediately.
- Upon successful completion, you will be upgraded to Emergency Medical Responder, with pay increasing to $13.50 per hour, plus opportunities for overtime if desired.
- There are advancement opportunities available to roles such as EMT, Paramedic (with tuition assistance), Air Med, EMS educator, EMS leadership, or remote paramedicine within one of the most esteemed ambulance services in the country.
