- DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Description
- The Gas Distribution Drill locator position requires the person to demonstrate the ability to follow directions and ask pertinent questions when required.
- The Drill Locator must be willing to learn industry terms, work practices, use of tools, and skills that will apply to any drilling needs.
- The Drill Locator must report to work on time and as scheduled and maintain a professional working relationship with co-workers and supervisors and stay productive throughout the workday.
- Experience
- Preferably 3 years minimum experience in construction and/or distribution
- Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks (fusion, helping assist in other task on sight if no drilling is going on.)
- Prior directional drilling experience.
- Must have experience in drill locating, preferably with Vermeer rigs
- Valid driver/operator license.
- Knowledge of underground utilities.
- Ability to travel throughout the state as needed
- Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
- Ability to follow Safety and Quality ACI Procedures

- TOLERANCE
- Extremes of temperature which could exceed 110 degrees Fahrenheit or fall below 20 degrees Fahrenheit
- Adverse weather conditions
- Exposure to the elements
- Exposure to elevated noise levels and vibrations
- Work in close quarters while wearing protective equipment such as respirators or special clothing

- Show up to work “on time” & “as scheduled”.
- Must walk the bore path with foreman and driller prior to each drill.
- Maintain a positive attitude with internal and external customers by providing quality customer service.
- Plan, organize the daily drilling activities with the foreman and driller.
- Troubleshoot and repair minor equipment problems.
- Ensure preventative maintenance of equipment is assigned and completed by the crew driller.
- Properly lift tools, objects, and equipment of varying weight.
- Safely and effectively operate all directional drilling and digging equipment.
- Assist crew with line locations when needed.
- Complete paperwork as required by the customer.
- Ensure overall quality of work meets the clients standard.
- Communicate with city utility departments.
- Identify potential problems; develop and implement solutions.
- Travel FREQUENTLY within the area for work assignments, with some overnight travel and occasional late night, call-out work.
