What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admitting Specialist-Floater position at Acadian Medical Center?
1. Receives, interviews, and registers patients using a positive and courteous tone of voice at all times consistently following EMTALA laws as applicable.
2. Enters data into system to include emergency room patients upon their arrival for purpose of identification and gathers consent for treatment from each patient.
3. Takes initial patient information and contacts nursing staff as necessary, acting as a liaison between the medical staff or nursing staff and incoming patients and relatives.
4. Regularly attends scheduled shifts and on time
5. Operates the hospital switchboard directing all telephone calls as needed.
6. Arranges for payment by patient or responsible party, collects deposits on patient accounts as appropriate and assist in arranging financial aid or transportation for indigent patients.
7. Refers uninsured patients to the Medicaid application clerk for screening of Medicaid eligibility.
8. Verifies insurance eligibility on all patient types to include correct payor, correct policy #, correct group #, correct patient name and relationship code to insured.
9. Verifies patient procedures does not require an authorization or has current approved and correct authorization notated.
10. Enters accurate registration data including correct insurance, policy numbers, group numbers, relationship codes & all parts of registration plus using descriptive notes on every account, correcting and updating records as needed.
11. Assists with transporting patients when necessary once trained on transporting patients.
12. Enters in-house transfers/ change in hospital service code into computer with correct accommodation codes.
13. Any other duties assigned as needed to help drive our Mission and abide by our organizations values
