What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Tech position at Acadian Medical Center?
1. Ensures the supervision of the patient at all times.
2. Follows plan of care as directed by RN.
3. Competently performs linen change unoccupied beds.
4. Provides adequate privacy for the patient.
5. Assists with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
6. Obtains vital signs and notifies nurse of abnormal findings / significant changes.
7. Collects specimens: urine and labels appropriately.
8. Safely turns, positions, ambulates, assists up in chair, assists to bathroom and bedside chair as needed and instructed
9. Demonstrates proper body mechanics.
10.Reinforces / enhances patient / family education regarding plan of care.
11. Performs EKG
12. Performs phlebotomy
13.Provides for patient safety
14. Adheres to infection control and safety policies.
15. Frees room of accident potential items.
16.Reports equipment in need of repair.
17. Safely transports patients in wheelchair or stretchers.
18. Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of the patient.
19. Obtains equipment and supplies for patients.
20. Disinfects reusable equipment
21. Anticipates the needs of the patient/family and offers assistance/service
22. Assists with unit duties as required.
23. Assists with processing requisitions / order communications.
24.Answers patient call lights and telephone promptly and courteously and refers calls appropriately.
25.Tidies and cleans work areas as directed.
26. Assist patients with basic personal care, and to move or walk around.
27. Provides patient with emotional support.
28. Monitors patient’s vital signs if competency has been demonstrated.
29. Refrains from performing additional, unauthorized functions.
30. Detects changes in the condition of the patient and reports immediately.
31. Alerts nursing staff when patient needs help.
32. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
