What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Tech position at Acadian Medical Center?
1. Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment for each individual surgical procedure., at least 15 minutes prior to schedule time unless otherwise directly by Circulator or Director of Surgical Services.
2. Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment as applicable.
3. Actively participates in a TIME OUT before each procedure, IF one is not called Surgical Tech will stop procedure and call one.
4. Demonstrates competence in care of specimens and accurately handles specimens at all times.
5. Accurately completes operating room counts (instruments, sponges, needles); follows proper procedure in case of incorrect count; reports all discrepancies to circulator and surgeon and / or corrects immediately.
6. Carries out medical / surgical asepsis during treatments / procedures.
7. Follows aseptic technique when opening sterile supplies and setting up procedures.
8. Performs services requiring technical or manual skills under the direction of circulating RN and Surgeon.
9. Responsible for care of instruments / equipment during intra-post / operative phase.
10. Consults with other staff members when in question or unfamiliar with equipment or procedure.
11. Collaborates with other members of the OR nursing team in order to maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedure(s).
12. Completes documentation within shift and meets current standards, policies / procedures.
13. Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts and good judgment within the ORT's scope of practice.
14. Any other duties assigned as needed to help drive our Mission and abide by our organizations values.

15. Complete all required education, competencies and / or training as assigned by deadline
16. Regularly attends work as scheduled and on time, regularly attends department meetings.
17. Promote a culture of safety, Follow safety guidelines, Report visitor / patient / employee incidents immediately no later than end of business day.
18. Abide by the Code of Conduct and support the Mission, Vision of Acadian Medical Center and of Allegiance Health Management.
19. Abide by the Departmental and Hospital Policies (i.e. Social Media & Confidentiality Policy), State Laws, Federal Laws, and Regulatory Agencies.

20. Provide excellent customer service internally, externally, and promote teamwork professionally, with a positive attitude following our customer service standard of AIDET, Scripting, Managing Up, Key Words and Key Times, and Service Recovery.
21. Uses only hospital approved cleaning agents always following the manufacturer's instructions.
