JOB DESCRIPTION
LIFE GUARD I
Location: School Site
Reports to: Pool Manager
Hours & Days: Seasonal/Varies
Salary: Aquatic Salary Scale
Overview
Seasonal position under supervision of Pool Manager and Assistant Manager. The Instructor/ Guard I supervises patrons during recreational swim to ensure their safety and aids Life Guard II
Major Responsibilities:
Enforces safety and sanitary standards, rules and regulations of the pool; maintains control of patrons' activities at all times; enforces standards, rules and regulations of the pool; supervises recreational swim activities; administers first aid when required; completes records and reports as required; warns patrons against dangerous practices; aids in teaching swim lessons; and does all related work as necessary.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Environment:
Generally an outdoor/pool setting with frequent periods of time in the water.
Physical Abilities:
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment
Hearing and speaking to exchange information
Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally
Sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time
Lifting, carrying or pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects
Qualifications
Must have completed the 8th grade, and demonstrate ability, knowledge and experience in activities to be performed. Must possess current certifications for American Red Cross Life guarding for the Professional Rescuer. First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22) and WSI is desirable.
