Job Description / Essential Elements :
Definition of Instructional Support Program and Services
1.Provide individual and small group instruction to special education students.
2.Provide instruction and services for those students whose needs have been identified in special education and / or general education settings.
3.Use direct instruction, consultation, collaboration or co-teaching methodology.
4.Offer access to core academic curriculum with or without accommodations and modifications.
Responsibilities and Duties of Instructional Support Provider :
1.Provide direct instructional support to students with special needs.
2.Provide consultation to staff and parents of special needs students including curriculum and instruction, accommodations, and modifications.
3.Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of :
1.Academic Curriculum.
2.Standards and Benchmarks.
3.Special Education Regulations.
4.A variety of instructional strategies.
5.Collaboration and co-teaching skills.
Ability to :
1.Work in a collaborative relationship with parents and general education staff.
2.Modify curriculum and support accommodations to meet the needs of special needs students in the general education class.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

QUALIFICATION
Holds or qualifies to hold a California Teaching Credential; ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with students, parents, and faculty with the appropriate records; ability to deal with and be
sensitive to the needs of young people; ability to deal politely with members of the public; knowledge
of rules, regulations, procedures and policies of public schools and school districts.
