HJF is seeking an Assistant General Counsel with a minimum of six to eight years of relevant experience for HJF’s in-house legal department at its Bethesda, Maryland headquarters. Reporting to HJF’s General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel will provide advice and guidance on a broad range of legal matters including, but not limited to : federal procurement, assistance, and other transaction agreements; intellectual property and data rights; biotechnology transfer and licensing; clinical research and development; R&D consortiums and collaborations; public-private partnerships; employment law; corporate and nonprofit governance; ethics; international operations; compliance with laws and regulations; and legal research; and representation in litigation or alternative dispute resolution.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing, and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the U.S. armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal and strategic advice and representation to HJF and its affiliates and provide authoritative counsel on many diverse and complex areas of law.
- Review and assist with the drafting and negotiation of many types of agreements including, but not limited to, federal procurement, assistance, and other transaction agreements; teaming agreements; clinical research and development agreements; R&D consortium and collaboration agreements; and biotechnology commercialization and licensing agreements.
- Participate in investigations and research legal questions.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
