We invite you to discover your place in our world.In this role you will : Work independently and collaboratively in providing legal advice and training to internal clients on a wide range of labor and employment matters across the U.S. and Canada.Provide legal advice to internal clients, including senior management and HR professionals, on a broad range of U.S. and Canadian labor and employment related matters, including human resources issues, wage and hour (including FLSA, Service Contract Act, and state laws, especially California), labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements, reduction in force, Title VII, ADA, FMLA, WARN, USERRA, employment-related arbitration and litigation, labor union grievances and mediation, collective bargaining agreements, and employment-related policies.Ensure adherence to company policies and compliance with current and pending legal regulations.Manage administrative matters before federal and state agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, state fair employment practices agencies, and the Department of Labor, including drafting position statements and responding to document requests.Review and respond to pre-litigation employment and labor claims.Draft and review employment documents including severance agreements, retention agreements, offer letters, and repayment agreements.Conduct legal research on various topics (will be responsible for keeping abreast of new legal decisions and statutory developments).Conduct or manage investigations and compliance audits; develop, implement, and oversee action plans to remedy any compliance deficiencies.Coordinate and drive completion of employment related projects, including internal process reviews, new policy roll-outs and implementation and training programs.Serve as trusted advisor to leadership team to develop proactive strategies that address any trends / root causes identified by employee relations metrics.Proactively identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area and advise the business accordingly.Manage employment litigation and outside counsel to resolve threatened or outstanding employment litigation matters and establish best practices for prevention of future matters.Manage and drive strategy on pre-litigation and litigation matters.Prepare and present training on employment and labor issues.Work with the Senior Manager, Ethics & Compliance, with various complex and / or sensitive projects.As an ambassador of the legal team, establish a rapport and working relationship within the Legal Department and with business partners across the company.To be successful in this role you will have : Required : Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school is required.Member in good standing of a state bar and qualified to register as Virginia Corporate Counsel is required.Preferred : 8 years of relevant experience is preferred.Corporate law department experience is preferred.Experience in the government contracts industry is preferred.Experience with international global mobility issues is preferred.Experience handling traditional labor issues is preferred.Experience managing people in a corporate environment is a plus.Company Overview : Serco Inc.
