JOB SUMMARY
The Prep Cook assist the cooks in the preparation and service of menu items and performs additional duties as assigned as well as cleaning duties. Reports to the Culinary Services Manager. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists cooks preparing all food items following proper recipes and procedures.
- Ensures all food items are prepared in a timely fashion to ensure freshness.
- Prepares all foods in a manner to preserve freshness and nutrients to meet the dietary requirements of residents.
- Meets regularly with Culinary Services Manager to discuss menu preparation and recipes.
- Ensures kitchen is always clean & sanitary.
- Monitors all storage areas for proper labeling and dating; ensures areas are clean, organized.
- Assists with planning and preparing of special events.
- Tracks all production, and temperature log.
- Provides a high level of customer service to both residents & team.
- Attends assigned meetings as required.
- Provides a high level of customer service to both residents and team members.
- May assist as a Cook as needed.
- Assists with other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must complete a criminal background check and achieve successful clearance.
- Must complete a physical exam and achieve successful clearance
- Must have Food Handler Card within fourteen 14 days of hire
- Must possess proficient English communication skills (oral and written).
- Must know basic kitchen sanitation.
- High school graduation or equivalent G.E.D.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Must be able to properly lift 50 pounds. Physical demands vary from lifting, bending from the waist, stooping, and twisting as conditions warrant. Hours of duty may be long and irregular, including evenings and weekends.
Salary : $17 - $19
