The Batch Operations Technician will support the NC FAST system’s batch processing architecture, ensuring the smooth execution of enterprise-level batch operations. This role focuses on monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing batch jobs while working outside standard business hours to provide overnight production support.
The technician will be responsible for executing, verifying, and troubleshooting batch processing workflows, escalating unresolved issues, and ensuring batch performance meets service level objectives (SLOs). They will also collaborate with functional teams to enhance job scheduling, system reliability, and incident resolution.
**This is a Hybrid Role**
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and monitor batch jobs across multiple servers in a production environment.
- Analyze batch processes, identify errors, and escalate issues as needed.
- Review logs and analyze batch step results for data interface processing exceptions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve batch failures to ensure system uptime and efficiency.
- Respond to and escalate priority issues following on-call support procedures.
- Work with internal/external teams to troubleshoot and resolve job failures, scheduling conflicts, and processing delays.
- Document incidents and resolutions for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Analyze job schedules and recommend improvements for performance optimization.
- Support workload automation forecasts and ensure adherence to SLAs.
- Assist in backup and recovery operations to meet business continuity objectives.
- Communicate effectively with business users, second-level support teams, and developers.
- Provide detailed documentation of processes, issues, and resolution steps.
- Work with technology teams to enhance job scheduling strategies and automation.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5 years of experience as a GMI Operator/Support Specialist managing batch steps and responding to user queries.
- 5 years of experience in batch operations, job scheduling, and monitoring tools.
- Strong ability to communicate issues and updates to business users, support teams, and developers.
- Proven experience improving batch workflows and enhancing the customer experience.
- 5 years of hands-on experience with UNIX, Mainframe, and Windows operating systems.
- 5 years of experience in SQL and relational databases for querying and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in running shell scripts and reviewing log files in UNIX environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with experience handling priority incidents and troubleshooting calls.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with enterprise job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, Autosys, TWS).
- Knowledge of ITIL-based incident and problem management processes.
- Prior experience in government or healthcare-related IT operations.
