We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mainframe Application Programmer to design, develop, maintain, and support COBOL-based applications running on IBM mainframe platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mainframe development, understand SDLC methodologies, and work effectively within cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance business applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Develop, test, and implement new or modified programs in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
- Maintain and enhance existing mainframe applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Participate in code reviews, peer testing, and troubleshooting of production issues.
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and other developers throughout the software development life cycle.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including program specs and change logs.
- Ensure compliance with internal coding standards, data security, and audit requirements.
- Support application upgrades, migrations, and mainframe modernization initiatives where applicable.
Basic Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of hands-on experience in mainframe application programming.
- 5 years of experience in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2.
- 3 years of experience working with any DMV system.
- 1 years of experience working with the State/Federal.
- Experience working on IBM z/OS or similar mainframe environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with batch and online processing systems.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and change management processes.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
