Job Description
As a Sped Paraprofessional, you'll work under the supervision of teachers to support students with behavioral challenges. This role requires experience working with students, strong math and literacy education skills, and excellent classroom and behavior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction: Providing supplemental instruction to individual students or small groups
- Behavior: Monitoring student behavior and communication, redirecting inappropriate behaviors, and administering behavior intervention programs
- Social and emotional development: Helping students build social skills and foster healthy concepts
- Clerical: Preparing, typing, duplicating, and filing instructional materials, maintaining student records
Essential Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- At least eighteen years old
- Ability to support program requirements as defined in IDAPA 08.02.02
- Previous experience working with children in a school setting, daycare, or Montessori environment is a plus
