Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead accounting team in the financial statement preparation process and adhere to deadlines in that process
- Develop reporting systems and dashboards to accurately track financials, KPIs, and variance reporting
- Manage both internal and external firms that provide bookkeeping, AR/AP, tax compliance, payments, banking, and accounting services
- Implement best practice financial reporting processes and workflows
- Partner with senior leadership across the company as the Finance team builds forecasts and budgets, tracks performance, identifies risks and opportunities, and supports strategic business initiatives to accelerate growth
- Ensure accuracy in all financial statements, cash movement, tax compliance, and KPI reporting
- Lead, manage, and grow a strong Finance and Accounting team
- Overseeing company compliance with various regulations and legislation
- Ensuring the company adheres to tax laws and industry regulations
- Advising the CFO on financial planning and making financial forecasts
- Manage all payroll and tax activities
- 3-5 years of experience in public accounting and at least 3 years in direct team management at a high-performance organization
- At least a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field. CPA is preferred
- Experience implementing and managing business accounting processes and financial reporting through enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Experience with Sage, in specific, is preferred
- Entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to build the Accounting function in an ambitious, high-growth startup environment
- Expert Excel skills and corporate financial model management experience
- Expert organizational skills and attention to detail
- Fluency and comfort with GAAP accounting, taxation matters including state compliance, and financial statement preparation
- Previous experience supporting the preparation of audited financial statements
- Willingness to be both player and coach in a small startup environment where everyone executes
- Excellent communication skills with high integrity and handling of confidential information
