The Senior Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and management of manufacturing operations for consumables and instruments. This role ensures that all production activities meet company goals for quality, efficiency, cost control, and safety. The Senior Manufacturing Manager will implement process improvements and drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing management, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of industry’s best practices and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and manage multiple manufacturing teams to achieve organizational goals, including production targets, cost reductions, and quality improvements.
- Set departmental objectives aligned with company goals and develop strategies for achieving them.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for direct reports and cross-functional team members.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the manufacturing department.
- Production Operations Management:
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products within budget.
- Ensure optimal utilization of production resources (e.g., labor, equipment, materials) to meet demand and reduce waste.
- Manage production schedules and prioritize tasks to meet customer requirements and optimize throughput.
- Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistent, high-quality production.
- Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing process using Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Lead the identification, analysis, and resolution of production inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and quality issues.
- Analyze production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Champion automation and technology integration efforts to streamline manufacturing operations and improve productivity.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO) and company quality standards.
- Oversee the implementation of quality control programs to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and industry-specific regulations.
- Lead investigations into product defects or deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Cost Management & Budgeting:
- Develop and manage manufacturing budgets, ensuring that production costs stay within financial targets while maintaining product quality.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives to reduce waste, improve yield, and optimize resource use.
- Monitor capital expenditures and identify investments in equipment or technology to improve efficiency or capacity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, R&D, and other departments to align manufacturing processes with overall business objectives.
- Work closely with the supply chain team to manage inventory levels, raw material procurement, and production scheduling.
- Support the design and implementation of new product introductions and process changes to ensure seamless manufacturing transitions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven track record in managing large-scale manufacturing operations and teams.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or chemicals.)
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing systems, supply chain management, and quality control standards.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and cost control.
- Ability to drive change and lead initiatives in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
