We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Plant Manager to join our client's growing team. This is a newly created position aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and driving continuous improvement in alignment with our company’s growth and evolving customer needs.
Position Overview
The Plant Manager will play a critical role in leading multiple production departments, optimizing workflows, and ensuring excellence in safety, quality, and performance. This position requires a proactive leader who can develop and implement effective strategies, foster a cohesive team environment, and address operational challenges with confidence and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management:
- Directly oversee a team of 7-8 supervisors and approximately 100 indirect reports across various shifts.
- Establish departmental goals aligned with organizational objectives and monitor progress.
- Develop team leaders and staff through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, open communication, and professional growth.
- Operations Oversight:
- Manage multiple production departments.
- Ensure smooth operations across shifts, including occasional weekend work (presence not required, managed by supervisors).
- Collaborate with maintenance, scheduling, and quality teams to address operational challenges and optimize outcomes.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze processes and implement Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Address quality issues, such as training gaps, high scrap rates, and evolving customer requirements, by developing robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Lead Kaizen events and other process improvement projects.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior leadership to address strategic goals and operational needs.
- Communicate effectively with all departments and ensure alignment on production schedules and priorities.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years of experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement methodologies (formal certification not required).
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a results-driven mindset.
- Manufacturing experience preferred; printing, flexible materials, or plastics is a plus.
- No degree required, but candidates with engineering backgrounds may receive higher compensation.
