Accelerated Schools is a small private non-denominational K-12 school located in southeast Denver near Denver University. We are housed in the historic Fitzroy Mansion. Accelerated Schools features extremely low student/teacher ratios that allow us to authentically implement individual success plans for each of our students. We have open enrollment and are open year-round. Accelerated Schools is the former Randell-Moore School of Denver and has operated under our current name since 1977. We are accredited by Cognia

Job Description

This is position is a full-time position that requires the candidate to have the ability to teach math at all levels, from basic math skills through calculus with a high level of content knowledge. Solid working knowledge of graphing calculators is required. A successful candidate will have previous successful teaching experience in math at the secondary level, which includes creating an active, dynamic, and engaging learning environment in the classroom. This candidate will also demonstrate positive relationships with students, parents, support staff, teachers, counselors, and administrators. Finally, a successful candidate will be committed to the mission, vision, and values of Accelerated Schools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Documentation of successful teaching and learning practices that are applicable to Accelerated Schools.
  • Documented ability to design instruction that reflects the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served in accordance with the Common Core Standards and graduation requirements.
  • Documented ability to collaborate and work effectively with departments, administrators, counselors, parents, and others to achieve school goals.
  • Experience, interest, and willingness to teach students of all academic abilities and grade levels.
  • Commitment to working closely with parents by communicating effectively about student success and failures in academics, attendance, and disciplinary issues with an emphasis on parent conferences.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate student data to adapt and design instruction.
  • Establishes appropriate standards of student behavior using behavioral management strategies and techniques specific to Accelerated Schools.
  • Willingness to incorporate various technologies in the classroom.
  • Individualizes and adapts educational processes and procedures to enhance student educational opportunities.

It is preferred that candidates hold a Teaching License and be Highly Qualified in Math through an Endorsement, the PLACE or PRAXIS II content exam.

Qualifications

  • B.A. in the educational field
  • Two years of teaching experience
  • CDE certification or the ability to obtain such

Compensation

Accelerated Schools is a year-round school. Salary high $40’s to low 50’s per year depending on qualifications. There is also partial health insurance reimbursement and partial 403(b) match. A graduated vacation schedule based on years’ experience with the school is also available in addition to the eleven days for national holidays.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Ability to read and interpret documents such as policy and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare and proofread routine reports, business letters, and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, stakeholders, and other employees of the organization. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.

Additional Certificates, licenses, and registrations
Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills are required. Must possess excellent written communication skills; business writing skills, principles and procedures of record keeping. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are required. The ability to differentiate instruction for multiple skill and age levels is essential.

Ability to apply strong computer and Internet research skills.

Ability to multi-task and interact in a dynamic environment using independent judgment and personal initiative.

Ability to pass the vetting process of Accelerated Schools including passing a pre-employment drug test, being able to legally work in the United States, and pass criminal and financial background checks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at a desk and use hands and fingers to type; must be able to reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. May frequently be required to stoop or kneel; must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb stairs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is primarily is a fast-paced office setting with a moderate noise level and frequent interruptions. Multi-tasking ability is essential.
