This position is based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and you need to be willing to relocate to Puerto Rico or currently live in Puerto Rico to be considered.
\n- You’ll oversee, inspect, and approve the receipt of several power transformers destined for one or more Ports in Puerto Rico, USA
- You’ll verify all pertinent documentation and permits required as per AHJ requirements
- You’ll coordinate with the PM to ensure crew availability to receive transformers at substation sites
- You’ll oversee the receipt, loading, and transport of several utility-sized power transformers weighing up to 500,000 pounds
- You’ll analyze the proposed routing and ensure the plan for transformers to be moved from ship’s gear onto multi-axle-line trailers is approved
- You’ll approve the routing and verify any obstacles such as over-head powerline clearances, low-pass bridges, road width, curves, slopes, and grades to ensure the load is safely transported without tipping
- You’ll approve the plan for maintaining allowable ground bearing pressure and stability during the move, offloading, and installation on ground surfaces
- You’ll ensure a proper plan exists and coordinate with construction for accepting the transformers at the site and/or temporary storage facility
- You’ll ensure proper storage steps are met to prevent any damage, condensation, or theft according to manufacturer storage recommendations
- Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Business Administration with a focus on logistics or project management
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel extensively within Puerto Rico
- Advanced degrees such as an MBA or a master’s in engineering/Logistics
- Certifications like Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD), or Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Proficiency in English and Spanish for effective communication in Puerto Rico
- Extensive experience in heavy equipment transport, including oversized loads like transformers
- Knowledge of U.S. DOT, Puerto Rican, and international regulations for heavy cargo transport
- Familiarity with multimodal transportation methods, including shipping, road, and rail logistics
- Regulatory and safety certifications like OSHA 30-Hour Certification, TWIC, or HAZMAT handling training
- Strong stakeholder coordination skills, including managing cross-functional teams and liaising with clients, government agencies, and contractors
- Awareness of environmental regulations related to hazardous transformer materials
