Speech and Language Pathologist
ACCEPT Education Collaborative is a regional non-profit educational organization located in Medway and Natick, MA. ACCEPT provides a wide range of programs and services including special education for students with moderate to severe needs, specialized transportation, home-based services, behavioral and educational consultation, and professional development. ACCEPT offers a continuum of programs and services Prek-12 and to age 22 for both students in life skills and Therapeutic programs. Our programs address autism spectrum disorders, emotional/behavioral needs, global impairments, cognitive/intellectual disabilities, language disorders, ADHD/ADD, and nonverbal learning disability.
ACCEPT is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist to work in our classrooms. The SLP will develop and implement programming that aligns with and complements curriculum to support student progress in our academic programs. Preference will be given to candidates with experience or interest in an embedded intervention model. The appropriate candidate should have experience in both the evaluation and treatment of students with speech and language disorders in students ages 3 to 21. Experience with the IEP process is preferred.
Position Summary: Conducts speech and language evaluations, provides direct therapy services, develops and implements programming that aligns with students needs and provides consultation to the student’s multidisciplinary team at ACCEPT.
Qualifications Required:
Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from a program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
Certificate of Clinical Competence or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship
Safety Care certified or willing to get certified
Qualifications Desired:
Speech-Language Pathologist specialist license from the Board of Registration in Speech-Language Pathology
Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Experience working in a school or pediatric setting
Essential Responsibilities:
Provides direct treatment, group or individual, for students in need of therapy services including but not limited to: expressive language, receptive language, articulation, social pragmatic language, executive function, and augmentative communication
Conducts thorough assessments of speech and language impairments using standardized and dynamic measures
Develops specific performance goals and objectives for the student’s IEP
Writes comprehensive assessment reports and progress reports
Participates in IEP meetings to present assessment findings, discuss student performance and propose goals and objectives
Consults with the IEP Teams and works closely in collaboration with teachers, therapists, BCBAs, OTs, and PTs
Maintain professional standards, adhere to all due process timelines and submit necessary administrative tasks relative to therapy services in a timely manner.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the school building. The employee must also often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and perform physical restraint of a student at times of behavioral escalation. The employee is expected to lift at least 20 lbs (i.e. books, school supplies, etc.). The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Occasionally s/he operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person and on the telephone. In the classroom, the employee must be able to see and hear on a continuous basis in order to ensure the safety of students as well as speak frequently to provide instruction. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly/run across even or uneven surfaces. The employee interacts with students, parents, and other staff members. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
Work Environment: The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise.
This is a school year position (183 days). Summer program is an additional 5 weeks (strongly preferred but not required).
