Position Summary:
The Vocational Counselor coordinates vocational services through student IPE plan development, administers functional skills analysis, reviews, and analyzes assessment tests, interviews, and conducts observations, develops plans, partners with service providers, and provides access to successful job placement.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university
Certified Rehabilitation Counselor licensure
Minimum two (2) years relevant experience
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director may find
appropriate and in conformity with state and federal requirements
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides professional vocational counseling within a continuum of services to help students achieve success and to remove barriers by identifying unique strengths, resources, and abilities related to planning and achieving employment outcomes.
Administers residual functional capacities assessments, interest tests, aptitude tests, transferable skills analysis, and other vocational assessment tools.
Develops, implements, and monitors Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE) through onsite visits, job fairs and career seminars.
Engages students in activities of employment preparedness, job seeking and development; Facilitates appropriate concepts, individually or in group settings, to improve skills necessary for all stages of vocational development.
Monitors, evaluates, and tracks student progress with respect to relevant goals in an accurate and timely manner.
Establishes, maintains, and monitors close and cooperative relationships with providers and employers in carrying out supportive services.
Monitors on-site job coaching and recommend assistive devices for program and/or service use; Partners with agency regional/district staff, vendor organizations and other constituents in the role and scope of service delivery.
Participates in training experiences designed to enhance professional competency in vocational rehabilitation.

Prepares and presents vocational evaluations of students aged 14 and over
Develops and implements vocational IEP goals and objectives
Develops data collection systems to document student progress in the workplace
Job development, job carving, assist employers in making accommodations for students
Maintains communication with parents in regards to changes, progress, etc.
Observes and monitors job sites, as well as provides feedback to job coaches
Collects data for services being implemented both in the classroom and in the community
Writes and submits quarterly progress reports to parents
Participates in IEP and transition planning meetings
Participates in training sessions throughout the year
Develops career related lessons and provide instruction to students
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hands to type, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, bend, walk up and down stairs, talk, hear, see, stand for prolonged periods of time, lift up to 50Lbs, and required to perform physical restraint of a student at times of behavioral escalation; routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, copy machines, fax, phones, shredders and filing cabinets.
