Job Summary: The Federal Contract Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for federal contracts, including construction, engineering, and other government projects. This role involves analyzing project requirements, conducting market research, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive estimates. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal procurement processes and experience in cost estimation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for federal contracts, including labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
- Project Analysis: Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope of work and identify cost factors.
- Market Research: Conduct market research to gather data on material costs, labor rates, and other relevant factors. Stay updated on industry trends and pricing.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to gather necessary information and ensure estimates align with project requirements.
- Bid Preparation: Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including cost breakdowns and supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of estimates, including assumptions, methodologies, and supporting data. Ensure all documentation is organized and accessible.
- Compliance: Ensure all estimates comply with federal procurement regulations and company policies. Adhere to ethical standards in all estimation activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance estimation skills and stay current with industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably in the federal contracting sector.
- Strong understanding of federal procurement processes and regulations.
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
