What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelter Staff, Per Diem position at Access Community Action Agency?
JOB SUMMARY: In support of the Access Mission and Strategic Commitments, the Shelter Staff, Per Diem is responsible for the safety and supervision of all residents and for performing all duties required on assigned shifts. The Shelter Staff is a positive role model at all times and responsible to implement the Independent Living Philosophy of the Access residential programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:
Provide safety and supervision to individuals residing at the shelter.
- Enforce program rules and policies.
- Provide mediation and crisis intervention when necessary.
- Complete all required tasks and documentation for shift responsibilities.
- Assist with meal preparation and supervision of housekeeping chores.
- Be an advocate for Access in the community.
Other Duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED. Social Service or residential experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and as part of a team.
- Must be flexible and self motivated.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow policies/procedures and applicable state and federal mandates as they pertain to the Access Agency. This includes but is not limited to mandatory reporting of child abuse/neglect.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must use good judgment, maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Communicate effectively in both the written and spoken word.
- Ability to obtain state mandated pre-employment fitness for duty certification including a test for tuberculosis.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must obtain (within six months of hire) and maintain the following certifications: Fire Safety, Food Handler, First Aid and CPR.
- Bilingual preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regularly required to: talk, hear and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Frequently required to: stand and sit.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
