Installation Technician – Overhead Doors
The Installation Technician for Overhead Doors is an essential role for Guardian Access Solutions, assisting the Lead Installation Technician with project installations and servicing within our overhead doors division, while offering a general understanding of our additional divisions, including gates, access control, and CCTV, to ensure comprehensive project support across our services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for prepping the area for installation
  • Conduct thorough site inspections and prepare detailed reports
  • Digging post holes and trenches, mixing and pouring concrete, and cutting loops and pulling wire through conduit
  • Diagnose and resolve errors and technical problems
  • Assist with loading and unloading of tools, equipment, and supplies for the job
  • Installation of new equipment including multiple brands of commercial doors
  • Tracking and maintaining job related paperwork and submitting in a timely manner
  • Cleaning up the job site
  • Ability to follow instructions from the Lead Installation Technician and be a team player
  • Willingness to learn new products
  • Operate in safety conscious manner while performing job duties
  • Demonstrates strong customer service and collaborates seamlessly within a team setting
  • Regular and punctual attendance at work and provides appropriate flexibility
  • Other job-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2 years’ experience with commercial/industrial overhead door installation or service
  • Ability to trouble shoot, test, repair and service a wide range of commercial doors and door hardware
  • Well versed with electrical current, a general understanding of construction blueprints, and familiar with hand tools (including impact drills)
  • Safely operate and perform tasks at elevated heights using equipment such as boom lifts, scissor lifts, and ladders, with a strong focus on safety protocols for working at heights ranging from 10-50ft and beyond
  • Previous welding and/or electrical experience is preferred
  • Ability to perform independently as well as collaboratively within a team, and demonstrating a willingness to undergo on-the-job training as necessary
  • As a condition of employment, employer will conduct a background check and drug screen prior to hire
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel out of town for projects
  • Ability to perform physical work outdoors year-round in a variety of weather elements for 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
  • Ability to understand, speak and write English
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Technical degree or certificate in electronics is preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a fast-paced warehouse setting and in the field, including new construction sites, foundries, manufacturing plants, etc. with frequent interruptions. The employee is required to stand, walk, dig, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Duties may require standing and walking for long periods of time. The employee is expected to work alongside the crew and demonstrate the install and/or service process when necessary. Frequent need to drive a vehicle to other work locations is expected.
