The Fire Sprinkler Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of fire protection systems within various facilities. This position involves conducting thorough inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems to ensure they operate effectively in the event of a fire. This role requires checking sprinkler heads for corrosion, damage, leaks, or obstructions. Conducting flow tests on the fire sprinklers, fire pumps, standpipes, and hydrants. Inspecting accessible piping, brackets, hangers, drains, valves, and gauges.The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as relevant codes and regulations governing fire safety. Must be certified as a fire sprinkler inspector in the state of Florida.
Duties
- Conduct regular inspections of fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Test and evaluate the functionality of sprinkler systems, including alarms and pumps.
- Identify any deficiencies or potential issues within the systems and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings and necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure proper installation of fire sprinkler fittings during new builds or renovations.
- Utilize schematics to troubleshoot and diagnose issues within the fire protection systems.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and maintenance performed on each system.
Skills
- Familiar with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 25 standard and local codes.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to fire protection equipment.
- Background in field service or as a service technician within the fire protection industry.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics for effective troubleshooting.
- Skilled in detecting issues within fire sprinkler fittings and overall system performance.
