Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' substance use history and mental health status.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals.
- Provide addiction counseling through various therapeutic approaches, including motivational interviewing and behavioral therapy.
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions to promote recovery and coping skills.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA and DCH regulations.
- Monitor client progress, collect data, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Provide case management services, including referrals to additional resources or support services as needed.
- Educate clients about the effects of substance use and strategies for relapse prevention.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Certification or licensure in substance abuse counseling CAC-I, CAC II or CADC II
- Experience in addiction counseling, case management, or related fields is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of applied behavior analysis techniques and behavioral therapy practices.
- Familiarity with medical records management and data collection processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate empathy towards clients.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients in their treatment process.
