Access Laser Company is seeking a CMM Programmer to program and operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to precisely measure and inspect parts and components against engineering drawings, utilizing specialized software to ensure products meet strict quality standards and customer specifications. This is a full-time individual contributor role.
Primary Duties:
- Operate and program CMM machines to inspect parts and components per engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T symbols to ensure accurate part measurements.
- Set up and calibrate CMM equipment and inspection tools as needed.
- Analyze and document measurement results, identifying and reporting deviations from specifications.
- Collaborate with quality engineers and production teams to address quality issues and improve processes.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CMM equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain detailed inspection records and reports in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Utilize other precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges) as necessary.
- Calibrate hand tools utilized in production environment such as calipers and micrometers.
- Maintain calibration and maintenance database, including coordination of calibration schedules and assurance of compliance and availability of backup units.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Standard Job Requirements:
- 2 years of experience operating and programming CMMs in a manufacturing environment, preferably using software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or Mitutoyo MCOSMOS.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), blueprint reading, and metrology principles.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality management systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for documentation and reporting.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to regularly lift 35 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds, and be able to stand for long periods of time.
Highly Desirable Additional Skills/Experience:
- Associate degree or technical certification in CMM operation, machining, quality control, or a related technical field.
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or precision machining industries is a plus.
