Position Overview
The Barback at Palm Bar plays a vital support role in ensuring smooth bar operations. Responsible for maintaining a clean and well-stocked bar, the Barback assists bartenders in delivering a seamless guest experience. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced luxury resort environment.
Key Responsibilities
Bar Support
- Assist bartenders by stocking and replenishing bar supplies including liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and garnishes.
- Maintain ice levels, clean glassware, and manage trash removal throughout service.
- Ensure all bar stations are organized, clean, and fully stocked before, during, and after service.
- Monitor and refill juice, syrups, and other perishable ingredients as needed.
Guest Experience
- Maintain a polished and professional appearance while interacting with guests and supporting bartenders.
- Anticipate bartender and guest needs, ensuring quick and efficient service.
Cleanliness and Maintenance
- Follow all sanitation and safety standards, ensuring bar areas are clean and well-maintained.
- Clean spills and remove empty glassware promptly.
- Assist in the proper storage and rotation of bar products to maintain quality and freshness.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Lead Bartender.
Inventory Management
- Track inventory levels and notify the Lead Bartender of low stock.
- Assist with receiving and storing bar deliveries.
- Rotate stock to ensure first-in, first-out (FIFO) usage.
Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with bartenders, servers, and leadership to ensure seamless operations.
- Support bartenders during high-volume service periods.
- Participate in bar setup, breakdown, and closing procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a barback or in a hospitality support role preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Understanding of basic bar operations and drink ingredients.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Leadership Structure
- Lead Bartender: Direct supervisor responsible for bar operations and training.
- F&B Manager: Oversees FOH operations and provides additional support.
- Culinary Director: Responsible for overall restaurant operations, including coordination between FOH and BOH.
Performance Expectations
- Maintain clean and organized bar stations at all times.
- Provide prompt and efficient support to bartenders and the service team.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.
