What is a Sponsored Residential Provider?
Through AccessStar Community Living Services' Sponsored Residential program, providers open their homes to support individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, helping them thrive in a nurturing environment. As a Sponsored Residential Provider, you become a key part of someone’s journey, empowering them to build life skills, achieve personal goals, and foster independence. This unique, family-model care allows individuals to live in a home that’s creatively tailored to their needs, offering lifelong opportunities for success and community connection.
Our providers bring individuals into their family and community, offering both companionship and meaningful support. The service includes your chosen backup workers, as well as ongoing support from our program staff and access to behavioral, nursing, and other services. You'll be supported every step of the way and have access to a network of peers and mentors who share your passion for making a difference.
What Does the Role Entail?
- Support individuals in your home, helping them create genuine relationships and find purpose in daily life.
- Assist individuals in achieving personal goals, building life skills, and increasing their independence.
- Provide care in a dynamic home environment, adjusting to the individual’s changing needs and preferences.
- Work closely with our team, including receiving ongoing training, mentorship, and assistance as needed.

What’s Required?
- You must be 21 years or older.
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of professional experience providing direct support to individuals with disabilities (preferred).
- Ability to operate a computer and complete documentation.
- Clean driving record and reliable, safe transportation.
- Willingness to undergo a background check.
- Must pass a home environmental inspection to ensure a safe and supportive living environment.
Work Environment:
This role takes place in your home and is highly adaptable to the individual’s specific needs. The work may sometimes be fast-paced, requiring flexibility, patience, and the ability to respond to the unexpected. It may also include physical tasks, such as mobility assistance or behavioral support.
