About the Position
Access Youth Academy seeks a detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team at our San Diego facility. This role is crucial in supporting our organization's financial health as we continue to serve our community through our transformative youth programs. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, grant fund tracking and reporting, and processing payroll. Key responsibilities include processing bi-weekly payroll, maintaining detailed records of program-specific expenses, reconciling bank statements, and preparing monthly financial reports. The position requires proficiency in QuickBooks, strong attention to detail, and experience with non-profit accounting practices. This part-time position offers flexible hours (20-25 hours per week) and the opportunity to contribute to an organization that transforms the lives of youth in San Diego.
Responsibilities
Financial Operations Management
- Execute comprehensive full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Maintain meticulous accuracy of general ledger through daily bookkeeping operations
- Perform systematic daily, weekly, and monthly bank entry reconciliation utilizing QuickBooks Online
- Process and record bank deposits with precision and timeliness
- Generate and analyze POS system reports for revenue tracking
- Conduct thorough bank and credit card reconciliations
- Implement detailed cost accounting procedures across all program areas
Reporting and Compliance
- Develop and prepare comprehensive grant-specific financial reports
- Generate customized monthly financial reports for Executive Director review
- Create and process accurate journal entries
- Maintain compliance with non-profit accounting standards and procedures
Payroll Administration
- Coordinate bi-weekly payroll processing for full-time and part-time staff
- Manage timesheet collection and verification procedures
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll taxes and benefits
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience, non-profit experience strongly preferred
· Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
· Demonstrated experience with full-cycle accounting processes
· Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and grant fund management preferred
· Experience with payroll processing and compliance requirements
· Proven track record of accurate financial reporting and analysis
