About the Role:
As a Supported Living Direct Support Professional (DSP), your role is to guide individuals with developmental & intellectual disabilities toward greater independence, and support them in achieving their personal goals. You will be involved in daily living tasks such as medication administration, meal preparation, budgeting assistance, transportation, and promoting self-care routines. You’ll work closely with individuals and colleagues to ensure a safe, clean, and empowering environment. In addition, you will help foster a sense of community and belonging, advocating for their rights and empowering them to make choices that matter to them. You’ll make a lasting impact on their journey toward independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Living Support: Assist with activities like personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and bathing to help individuals maintain their independence.
- Medication Management: Administer and document medications accurately, ensuring compliance with prescribed health plans and monitoring side effects.
- Meal Planning & Nutrition: Help with grocery shopping, meal planning, and food preparation to ensure nutritional needs are met.
- Financial Support: Assist individuals with budgeting, managing finances, and planning for future goals.
- Behavioral Support: Implement behavior strategies and document progress as outlined in individualized support plans.
- Health & Wellness: Accompany individuals to medical appointments, ensuring health-related tasks are completed with dignity and respect.
- Create Safe Environments: Maintain and encourage a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment, helping individuals with household tasks.
- Transportation Support: Drive individuals to medical appointments and community activities as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Age: Must be 18 years or older.
- Driving: Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance coverage.
- Experience: Experience in the human services field is a plus, but we're happy to provide training for the right candidates who are passionate about helping others.
- Skills: Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills. You’ll need to multitask and manage multiple priorities with empathy and patience.
