Job Responsibilities :
As a Respite Direct Support Professional, your primary role will be to support individuals in their daily activities and care needs, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, while giving their primary caregiver a break. Key responsibilities include :
- Daily Care & Support : Assist with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and meal preparation.
- Health & Safety : Administer medications as prescribed, monitor and document health status, and ensure adherence to health-risk plans.
- Behavioral Support : Follow individualized behavior support plans (BSP) to encourage positive behavior and document target behaviors.
- Communication : Maintain clear, consistent communication with individuals, families, case managers, and your supervisor. Act as an advocate for the individuals in your care.
- Recreational Activities : Engage individuals in social and recreational activities that promote their well-being and social skills.
- Documentation : Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required documentation by the end of each shift.
- Individualized Care : Promote independence by actively involving individuals in decisions about their care and daily activities.
