Job Summary

Monday-Friday-typical workday is between 6:30AM-2:00PM-No Weekends!

If so, we want you to join our team as a Direct Support Professional providing 1:1 services.

The kind of team member we are looking for in this 1:1 role would be providing continuous support for an individual who is active and friendly and would need to be able to redirect and solve problems in various environments. In this position you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for an individual with special needs. The primary responsibility of the job is to support the person you are with so they may participate in all activities they choose to participate in within the organization or in the community. You would provide compassionate care and support in various daily activities, ensuring the well-being and independence of the person you assist. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to fostering a positive environment and promoting personal growth for the person served. Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 direct care duties including transportation in a company vehicle, assisting and encouraging the designated person served with recreational classes, community outings and job tasks on the production floor.
  • Break down activities and tasks into small steps to facilitate maximum participation.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to person served, encouraging social interactions.
  • Accompany the person served on community outings, assuring their safety and implementing agency outing procedures such as organizing medications, safety protocols, etc... and any other items needed as part of the person's plan to engage in community events.
  • Implement goals on individualized care plans tailored to each person served specific needs and preferences and provide feedback to the person on progress and or areas needing improvement in a positive manner.
  • Assist with heavy lifting and mobility support for person served with physical limitations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for persons served, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Participate and stay up to date with training sessions.
  • Work cooperatively with the Associate Director, Supervisors and team mates to develop curriculum that meets the needs of the person served, regulations and other policies.
  • Work flexible hours according to team/department needs to facilitate person programming, problem solving, etc... consistent and regular attendance is required.
  • Assist with coverage as needed and requested by management or leadership if the 1:1 person served is absent.

Experience

  • A high school diploma/GED with one year of work experience providing service in a day program working with people with disabilities or persons age 65 and older. Previous experience as a 1:1 or in home health, caregiving, or direct support roles is preferred.
  • Certification in CPR or first aid is a plus, otherwise we will pay for your training.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment are essential.
  • A compassionate demeanor with a genuine interest in helping others achieve their personal goals is crucial for success in this role.
  • Must be proficient in computer skills required for job tasks (familiar and able to use Microsoft outlook, and Word programs)
