Executive Vice President (EVP) of Development

Under the direction of the CEO and as a member of the Executive Team, the EVP serves as the senior development executive at Accessia Health, providing strategic leadership and oversight of all fundraising, business development, and partnership initiatives. This position works across the senior team to facilitate strategic alignment and foster relationships that could result in business opportunities for advancement. Success measurements in the position focus on meeting or exceeding revenue targets, leadership and staff management, external relationships, and collaboration with other departments for program implementation. This person must work with internal and external partners and other organizations, providing exposure for program impact in a variety of professional groups, associations, and media outlets.

Core Job Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy Planning

  • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, participating in organizational strategic planning.
  • In partnership with the President/CEO, develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive, multi-year development strategy that encompasses all revenue streams with clear goals, metrics, and timelines.
  • Establish annual and long-term revenue targets across all development channels, including major gifts, planned giving, special events, and grant writing.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy and ensure that fund development is aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Lead innovation in fundraising approaches and donor engagement strategies, including identifying and cultivating individual, corporate, and foundation donors and prospects.
  • Partner with the Marketing and Communications team to create collateral materials and other communications to promote the organization's mission.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines in all fundraising activities.

Donor Pipeline Development

  • Create a robust pipeline of donors by identifying and leveraging opportunities to raise awareness of Accessia Health.
  • Expand revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support organizational growth.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with major gift donors through personalized engagement and stewardship activities, such as one-on-one meetings.
  • Develop and maintain a donor recognition program that acknowledges donors' contributions timely and accurately.
  • Maintain effective systems and processes to support fundraising and development operations, including gift processing, database management, and reporting.

Performance Measurement and Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Establish performance metrics to track progress.
  • Analyze industry dynamics, market share changes, and competitive intelligence.
  • Supervise the development team to support operations and leverage existing resources to build revenue-generating products and services.
  • Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performance team members, with a focus on building trusted relationships and overseeing the continued professional development and management of a high-performing and inclusive team and culture.
  • Stay informed about trends in philanthropic giving, the healthcare landscape, and fundraising strategies.

External Relationships

  • Cultivate existing relationships and develop new funder relationships.
  • Advance current strategic partnerships and identify opportunities for new strategic partnerships.
  • Elevate the voices and experiences of those we serve by seeking their feedback and using that perspective to refine and improve approaches and shifts in policies.
  • Ensure that key project outcomes and/or policy, advocacy, and legislation are evaluated and leveraged for maximum community and organizational impact.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with leadership team members and external consultants.
  • Effectively communicate strategies throughout the organization.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Proven track record of successful fundraising and development initiatives with a strong understanding of the nonprofit sector and its unique challenges.
  • Advanced degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • 10 years of strategic experience in a similar environment, management consulting, or nonprofit healthcare.
  • A keen understanding of the healthcare regulatory environment related to compliance and ethical program design and execution.
  • Strong fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, including advisory groups, coalitions, forums, trade associations, foundations, corporate sponsors, and practitioner groups.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and the Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be tactful and discrete with an ability to effectively problem solve and maintain cohesive relationships when resolving conflicts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - persuasive, credible, and polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Extensive experience as an effective spokesperson at the national level.
  • Strong working knowledge of organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of programs, policies, and operational needs.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Requires extensive travel up to 70%.
