What are the responsibilities and job description for the Video Production Specialist position at AccessVision Greater Battle Creek Community Media?
Position summary
The Production Specialist will be responsible for recording and editing government meetings, high school sports and other community events. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, hard worker who pays attention to detail. Pay rate is $18.00 an hour, for approximately 20-30 hours/week to start. Upon satisfactory performance, there is a possibility of promotion to full-time status with benefits within 6 months.
Job duties and responsibilities (illustrative only)
• Record government meetings, high school sports, and other community events;
• Direct multi camera productions in the studio and in the field;
• Be dependable to deliver event coverage without fail on short turnaround times;
• Provide tech support to volunteers and check equipment out/in;
• Assist with paid professional productions (events, promo videos, PSAs);
• Schedule completed productions for playback;
• Contribute to social media accounts;
• Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
Position requirements:
• Graduation from a college, university or trade school in media production, two years of experience in the field, or any combination of training and experience which provides the desired knowledge and skills;
• Self-motivated with attention to detail and can work with little supervision;
• Ability to shoot and edit professional-quality videos with high quality audio;
• Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional Saturdays;
• Experienced with macOS and Final Cut Pro. Photoshop, journalism, podcasting and live streaming experience preferred but not required;
• Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license;
• Ability to lift, carry and set up equipment off site; eyesight and hearing abilities sufficient for producing videos with sound.
AccessVision is the Battle Creek area’s PEG access TV station and community media center. Since 1989, we have provided Public, Educational and Government programming access to 3 channels on cable TV, along with streaming and VOD. Our mission is to empower people to strengthen a sense of community, facilitate civic dialogue, and celebrate local culture by communicating through electronic media.
