Acciona Power Marketing is responsible for maximizing revenues from the operating and development fleet of generation assets while originating innovative structures to meet customer demand.Power Marketing is the commercial interface to the marketplace and is chargedwith mitigating portfolio risk while being opportunistic in the market to add value to the company.
The Power Trader & Analyst will play a key role in optimizing project performance, from strategic planning through real-time execution. This includes developing and implementing bidding and dispatch strategies, executing transactions across multiple market channels, and managing risk exposure to ensure efficient asset optimization.
Responsibilities:
Develop hedging and optimization strategies for the fleet of renewable assets with merchant exposure.
Create and execute the daily optimization plan and bidding strategy for the Day-Ahead market
Monitor market conditions and asset performance to dynamically adjust strategies.
Execute transactions through various market channels, including bilateral agreements, exchanges, and OTC brokers.
Assess portfolio exposures such as volume, shape, price, and basis risk to recommend operational and hedging strategies.
Support and monitor the deployment of optimization strategies for energy storage portfolios in collaboration with third-party providers.
Continuously monitor and analyze grid operations, congestion, weather patterns, generation and transmission outages, and other market fundamentals to maintain an informed and forward-looking market perspective. Additionally, lead or contribute to third-party studies that assess these factors to support strategic decision-making.
Support new project pipeline and M&A goals assessing merchant and structured offtake opportunities to create the best risk adjusted return profile.
Participate in cross-department projects as needed to advance execution and operational capabilities of the Power Marketing function.
Serve as thought partner to bring innovate structured origination products to market which could include block clean energy offtake and co-location opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Business, Engineering or Mathematics.
- Strong academic foundation in statistics, optimization, economics, and finance. Academic exposure to electricity and energy markets is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to process large datasets, identify patterns, and derive actionable insights.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic trading environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a self-starter mentality and strong market instincts.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- 0-2 years of industry experience. Prior exposure to energy markets or asset optimization is a plus.
- Experience with programming or query languages such as Python, R, or SQL is a plus.
- Experience at an Independent Power Producer, Utility, or Energy Company is a plus but not required.
- Have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
