The Electrical Engineer Intern works under close supervision to ensure the safe, timely and successful completion of their assigned work. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, the Engineer Intern will develop skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the business related to the operations and maintenance of the electrical substations, collection systems, and major electrical components in the Acciona Energy North America fleet of renewable energy assets.
Job Description
Internship Highlights:
o Training opportunities may include participation in different projects/areas, working with Acciona engineering and maintenance professionals that support operational engineering functions, which include Wind and Solar PV/Storage.
o Experience and exposure may include, but is not limited to, the different stages of a project life cycle: development, preconstruction, construction, operations and maintenance.
o Training opportunities include technical training, training on specific competencies, monitoring and evaluating individual performance, and feedback from the mentoring supervisor throughout the program.
o Acquiring an understanding of Acciona and its renewable generation technology including electricity generating and collection system equipment, and learning strategies to analyze and minimize issues that adversely impact the renewable power projects.
o Learning about applicable regulatory reliability standards and compliance requirements, including market rules and NERC Reliability Standards.
o Opportunity to travel to and visit operating assets

Required Skills and Competencies
o Enrollment in a B.S. in Electrical Engineering degree program, or Engineering degree with an emphasis in Power/Power Generation; completion of the first (2) years preferred
o Capacity to work on varied activities, managing multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment
o Technically astute and capable of expertise-based problem solving
o High attention to detail and commitment to produce high quality outputs
o Make decisions based on accepted quality standards, policies and procedures
o An effective team-worker who can work independently when required
o Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to learn from experienced engineers
o High level of computer literacy, including using computer applications such as (e-mail, internet, MS Office, AutoCAD, etc.)
o Willingness and flexibility to travel (if applicable)
o Valid Driver’s License

Hourly Rate: $21 – $28 per hour (based on years of education and degree)
