Position Overview:
Accountants One is working with a small client in the manufacturing industry that is looking for a Part-Time Controller. This is a permanent role at 8 hours/week.
The Controller will be responsible for key financial processes and will work closely with both internal teams and external partners to ensure financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accuracy of bookings for productions in our customer-tailored business where each batch has its own COGS
- Manage and execute the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in a timely manner. This includes true-up entries with our EU entity each quarter and for FX changes.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and provide analysis of variances against budget and forecasts.
- Support preparation of materials for board or other special meetings, ensuring accurate and comprehensive data presentation.
- Drive specific modeling, decision-making, and financial analyses needed for upper management
- Monitor and report on long-term cash flow as well as day-to-day flow including receivables, payables, payroll, and forecasts, ensuring liquidity for ongoing operations and best management of lines.
- Include in oversight the regular movement of funds across currencies.
- Provide cash flow projections to leadership, recommend and implement strategies for optimizing working capital.
- Gather and prepare information for tax filings, including key tax credit program analyses.
- Manage interface with external tax preparation and ensure timely and cost-effective compliance with local and international tax regulations.
- Oversee and implement payroll processes with payroll companies across multiple countries, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy in reporting and timely payments in line with company policies.
- Manage currency exchange valuation and fluctuations, ensuring accurate financial true-ups and reporting.
- Reconcile financial data with external accounting partners in the Netherlands, ensuring alignment of global financial statements.
- Take on special financial projects, including process improvements, systems upgrades, and ad hoc reporting needs.
- Provide analytical support to cross-functional teams to drive business performance and financial decision-making.
- Oversee general ledger activities, most made by others, and ensure accurate posting of all accruals and transactions.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Support internal controls to ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors to ensure smooth audit processes.
- Have personality and professionalism to interact effectively and persuasively with external financial parties.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
- 10 years of accounting or finance experience, with a strong background in general accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in a chemical manufacturing company required.
- Familiarity with international accounting standards and cross-border financial reconciliation required.
Certifications: CPA a plus.
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis functions. Should have an instinctual tendency to create, share and evolve a spreadsheet with variable inputs for most considerations.
- Strong understanding of working with multiple currencies, foreign exchange valuation, and managing international financial transactions into USD accounting system.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with large datasets.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, variances, and key business insights.
- Highly communicative, both written and orally, for engaging with CEO and others in the company.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
