This role is located in NYC, NY; Pittsburgh, PA; OR Lake Mary, FL - hybrid 3 days in office.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :
- As a more experienced attorney, provides specialized, expert employment legal advice and support to a leading global financial services company, including, but not limited to : providing counsel to all levels of the People Business Partners (“PBP”) team and business or functional area leaders on employment-related legal issues; investigating and defending claims and litigations; educating PBPs to mitigate employment law risks; and advising on the creation of best-in-class employment-related programs and policies.
- Viewed as a trusted internal resource capable of using knowledge of BNY businesses, products, services, and / or strategies to articulate and advance legal positions.
- Must have strong knowledge of federal, state, and city employment laws and regulations and have the ability to expertly advise, counsel, and train clients on the same.
- The candidate must have strong employment litigation experience as well as experience in handling charges of discrimination filed with federal, state, and city human rights commissions and be able to expertly manage all aspects of litigation, including managing outside counsel, case management, and case strategy.
- The candidate must also have strong negotiation skills.
- Must also have background in M&A employment issues and enforcement of restrictive covenants. Additionally, the candidate must have deep experience drafting and negotiating employment and separation agreements and developing policies, templates, and guidance to ensure compliance with various legal and business requirements.
- Must have excellent legal and business judgment, a high degree of discretion, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workload, adapt to changing conditions, and execute with excellence in a complex matrix environment.
- The candidate must have the demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and drive them to conclusion in a timely manner.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $165,000 and $240,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department / team performance, and market factors.
