Job Description:

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing and managing payroll operations across multiple states for a diverse workforce. This role demands a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and a solid understanding of payroll processes. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining detailed and accurate employee payroll records.

Key Responsibilities:
• Process bi-weekly payroll for multiple states, including two separate company payrolls for hourly, salaried, and commission-based employees.
• Review and validate approved timesheets for accuracy before processing payroll.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities promptly.
• Generate year-to-date, monthly, and weekly payroll reports, along with ad hoc reporting as needed.
• Maintain employee leave balances and ensure accurate benefit payroll deductions.
• Oversee vendor-submitted quarterly payroll tax reports for federal and multi-state compliance.
• Respond to inquiries and special requests from regulatory agencies regarding payroll matters.
• Establish and maintain employee records, ensuring accurate and timely entry of changes while adhering to compliance requirements.
• Support benefit enrollment, termination processes, and invoice reconciliation as needed.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing, including multi-state payroll.
• Solid understanding of wage and hour laws, including payroll taxes, withholdings, deductions, and garnishments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Experience:
• Experience with Workday Payroll and Benefit modules.

Skills and Competencies:
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
• Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Effective project management and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Knowledge of payroll tax reports and regulatory compliance.
