JOB SUMMARY
This position handles the accounting functions for various grant and/or contract programs of the District. Processes reports for Program Managers and Federal, Local, and State Agencies.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Administers the financial operations of various Programs funded by state, federal and local sources.
- Establishes a cooperative working relationship with the Program Directors, Principals, and staff of each program.
- Familiarizes oneself with the accounting regulations and requirements of each program and learn its program goals and objectives.
- Remains up to date on all Uniform Grant Guidance (UGG) , FASB statements, GASB statements, and Audit Standards regulating the accounting for grants.
- Assists Program Directors and Principals with budget preparation as needed and performs budget analysis to determine any deficiencies.
- Prepares invoices to granting authority for reimbursement of expenditures.
- Ensures that funds are received from granting authority on a timely manner.
- Establishes accounting services essential to the implementation and management of each program.
- Maintains accounting services on a day to day basis ensuring expenditures are within budget regulations and limitations and ensuring that all expenditures are allowable within the terms of the award.
- Reviews budgets of all grant proposals before they are submitted to an agency for funding.
- Documents time and effort reporting requirements are satisfied for all programs.
- Provides periodic statements for Principals and/or Directors and reviews with them on a regular basis.
- Prepares fund requests and expenditure reports as outlined by each program accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintains all documentation required for state, federal, and local audits and reviews.
- Works with other departments (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Personnel) to ensure timely payment of requisitions and salaries for programs.
- Establishes procedures to review requisitions for accuracy, proper approvals, correct account numbers, and availability of funds.
- Reviews financial/budget reports for accuracy.
- Assists with preparation of Budgets and Budget Amendments.
- Prepares reports for Auditors as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field is required. Three (3) years of experience in accounting. Experience in governmental or school accounting desired; experience in grants and contracts preferred. Experience with MUNIS software is highly desired. Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

- Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of internal controls.
- Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment.
- Knowledge of computerized accounting programs.
- Skill in operation of a computer keyboard.
- Good mathematical/accounting skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze organizational, management, and statistical information and to prepare clear, concise written and oral reports pertaining to this information.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle deadlines.
- Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with school employees, federal, and state program managers, vendors, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform works requiring meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Salary/Terms/Benefits:
- 239 day contract year; 8 hours per day
- Salary Range: Grade 67 $61,815 - $69,635 annually (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience). Up to ten years allowed. The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For external candidates, the top pay is not a potential starting salary.
