Job Description:

We are seeking a highly-motivated and innovative Senior Applied Scientist to join our research team in Boston, MA to drive cutting-edge research and development. This role combines expertise in advanced machine learning techniques with quantitative research and algorithmic trading experience. You will develop AI-powered trading systems that leverage deep learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), and time series analysis to identify market opportunities and optimize trading strategies. Working at the intersection of finance and artificial intelligence, you will collaborate with quant analysts, engineers, and product teams to translate cutting-edge research into profitable trading applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement machine learning models optimized for financial market prediction, risk assessment, and algorithmic trading
  • Apply natural language processing and LLM techniques to extract trading signals from financial news, reports, and alternative data sources
  • Create and optimize high-frequency trading algorithms that leverage AI for execution and market-making
  • Implement different machine learning approaches for dynamic portfolio optimization and trading strategy refinement
  • Build robust backtesting frameworks to validate model performance across various market conditions
  • Develop real-time signal processing pipelines that can handle market data at scale and with low latency
  • Research and evaluate novel methodologies at the intersection of AI and quantitative finance
  • Maintain awareness of both financial market dynamics and cutting-edge AI research to identify innovative applications
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior quantitative researchers and data scientists

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline; or Master’s degree with 5 years of experience in quantitative finance or algorithmic trading.
  • Strong background in both machine learning research and quantitative financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and deploying ML models for trading, market prediction, or financial risk management.
  • Deep expertise in time series modeling, statistical arbitrage, and quantitative strategy development.
  • Proficiency in deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and financial data analysis libraries.
  • Experience with high-frequency trading systems, market microstructure, and execution algorithms.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets, instruments, and trading mechanisms.
  • Proven track record implementing reinforcement learning for sequential decision-making problems.
  • Experience working with large financial datasets, market data feeds, and alternative data sources.
  • Advanced Python programming skills with an emphasis on performance optimization for real-time systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud and on-premise high-performance computing environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams and explain complex quantitative concepts to various stakeholders.

Salary Range: 170k-210k

The salary range provided reflects the estimated compensation for this role based on the expected qualifications and experience level. The final offer may vary depending on factors such as skills, experience, and alignment with role requirements.
