Continuation of position is contingent upon grant funding.The Advanced Manufacturing Program Lab Assistant will provide laboratory assistance and support the Advanced Manufacturing Department. The Advanced Manufacturing Program Lab Assistant performs laboratory and administrative work; responsible for setting up laboratory and related equipment/supplies for science labs; assists with instruction, maintains inventory of laboratory equipment, materials and supplies; orders new and replacement materials; maintains/cares for laboratory equipment; assists the safety officer with compliance with state and federal guidelines; ensures the proper labeling and disposal of hazardous and biological laboratory wastes; performs general lab maintenance (i.e. cleanliness) and other pertinent duties as assigned.SALARY: Appropriate placement on Alabama Community College System Board of TrusteesSalary Schedule E2, Grade 3 Salary Range $45,220 - $62,710 (12 months, Non-Exempt)Work Hours: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday - Thursday and 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday

The Advanced Manufacturing Program Lab Assistant shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.Must have a flexible schedule; depending on laboratory schedules, must be available in the mornings, or evenings and SaturdayLaboratory responsibilities may include any Advanced Manufacturing programs and/or coursesAssist faculty and students to ensure successful completion of the sections Prepare materials for laboratory sections as needed; set up laboratory and related equipment and supplies for all labs and perform breakdown and cleanup of laboratory sectionsMust be able to operate laboratory equipmentConsult with faculty regarding laboratory scheduling, supplies to be ordered, laboratory protocols, and prep sheetsMaintain inventory of laboratory equipment, supplies, and materials to ensure availability of adequate supplies, materials, and other supplies needed to perform laboratory activitiesSet up new laboratory equipment, computer and audio/visual equipment and ensure it is functional Receive training on new procedures and equipment as neededAssist with in-house and vendor servicing of lab equipment annuallyNotify proper personnel of needed repairs and follow through to ensure completion of the required repairs/maintenanceInitiate orders for new/replacement materials, receive and process ordered material, ensure proper documentation of ordersReview experimental procedures and equipment with lab instructorsAssist in coordinating course material, lab schedules, and lesson plansMaintain the safety, security, and cleanliness of assigned laboratory facilitiesPerform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by full-time Advanced Manufacturing Instructor(s), Division Chair, Assistant Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, and/or the PresidentJob description may be modified or altered at any time by management.
