The Dean of Institutional Advancement and Community Affairs provides strategic direction, vision, and management of the college’s overall institutional advancement efforts including annual and major gift fundraising and capital campaigns, community and public relations, alumni relations, and marketing. The Dean of Institutional Advancement and Community Affairs is also vested with the responsibility of developing, planning and coordinating an institutional advancement program designed to build and strengthen relationships with a broad range of constituencies and to encourage the advocacy of, investment in, and support of Bishop State Community College’s initiatives, programs, and students. The employee serves as a liaison between the College President and the Foundation Board as needed.Reporting Authority: President

The essential job functions listed are not comprehensive and duties and responsibilities may change without notice.Develops and coordinates aggressive fundraising strategies from individuals, corporations, Bishop State employees, foundations, and other private, public, and non-profit entities via annual giving, memorial gifts, major gifts, planned giving initiatives and endowment building activities.Coordinatesandparticipatesinthecultivationandrecognitionofdonorswhilerespectingconfidentialitywhennecessaryand appropriate.Develops and manages an alumni relations program, initiating and implementing strategies for engaging college alumni and increasing/retaining their support.Maintains an in-depth knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to foundation activities and fund-raising and assures college and foundation compliance with SACSCOC standards.Collaborate with and provide support to the Bishop State Community College Foundation, as directed, in accordance with the ACCS Board of Trustees policies.As the president’s designee, oversee the operations of the Bishop State Community College Foundation.Leads/facilitates the training of new foundation members.Manages/oversees the foundation’s scholarship process, including promotion, the timely posting of scholarships, keeping the scholarship committee informed, scheduling meetings for selecting awardees, notifying awardees, coordinating with the college’s financial aid office, and accurate recordkeeping.Coordinate with web content editor to keep the College Foundation Web page current.Provide leadership, management, and supervision for all college marketing and communications.Oversee the development and implementation of an effective marketing plan to enhance the community image, branding, and programs/initiatives of Bishop State Community College.Participates in community events or with community groups relevant to the foundation’s mission and that of the college.Present a favorable image of the college at all times and positively promote the college’s goals, objectives, and strategies internally and externally.Prepares Foundation budgets and financial reports for board meetings.Participates in the development of strategic goals and objectives for college fundraising.Plans and executes special events.Serves on college committees as appropriate.Other duties as assigned by the President.
