The Head Coach/Student Services Representative is responsible for supervising the assigned program in accordance with state and national regulations, including the recruitment and awarding of scholarships and assisting the Student Affairs Division with recruiting, advising, and events.SalaryCommensurate with experience on Salary Schedule C3 Rank 03 of the 2024-2025 LBWCC C3 Salary Schedule.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Head Coach Responsibilities: Supervise the program in accordance with state and national regulations.Recruit individuals for teams, including but not limited to attending tournaments; award scholarships to appropriate individuals.Host visits with recruits and their families; assist with finding living quarters.Determine the eligibility of athletes and make proper reports to the Alabama Community College Conference, National Junior College Athletic Association, and other appropriate agencies.Work to ensure the academic success of the players.Develop the schedule for the fall and spring sports seasons.Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License. Maintain playing surfaces, including all associated facilities.Follow appropriate guidelines for the budget; request all purchases and secure requisitions and purchase orders as required by the Business Office.Cooperate with the bookstore to ensure the return of books provided to athletes on scholarship.Maintain appropriate insurance files and physicals on players.Promote and relate the program to the community.Promote the program state-wide and nationally.Work with the Athletic Director to develop and maintain a fundraising program for the assigned program.Send appropriate notices of appreciation to individuals and organizations that make contributions to the program.Contact and encourage four-year institutions to sign LBWCC graduates to grants-in-aid.Assist in the recruitment and retention of students.Demonstrate personally the College’s Code of Conduct and ensure that all athletes observe this code on campus, at athletic events, and in the community.Support other athletic teams at the request of the Athletic DepartmentAssist the student-athlete with the registration process. Assist the Athletic Director with ACCC Student Athlete documentation.Assist the Athletic Director with game management.Student Services Responsibilities: Assist in the recruitment of prospective students to include high school visits, college fairs and hosted recruitment events. Assist in retention, advising, and orientation activities; serving as a student academic advisor as needed. Support the College’s dual enrollment efforts by assisting students and participating in parent nights. Assist student services staff with student activities and community engagement events.Assist in the administration of placement assessments at each campus as needed. Assist in the coordination of commencement exercises. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
