3rd Shift Lead

Job Summary

The 3rd Shift Lead is the senior production employee on-site and is responsible for safe production and team leadership for the employees assigned to 3rd Shift, 11pm - 7am, Monday - Friday. The 3rd Shift Lead is a role model for safe, efficient production and for communication consistent with Accu-Glass culture.

This position reports to the Operations Manager.

Duties/ Responsibilities

The essential functions of this position include, but not limited to:

• Ensure safe work practices are consistently practiced by the 3rd Shift production team;
• Perform the duties, processes and production for a relief operator as needed on 3rd Shift;
• Develop, direct and motivate the personnel assigned on 3rd Shift to meet the organization’s objectives and individual performance standards;
• Role model company HR policies, safety, health regulations and work rules to promote the welfare and consistent fair treatment of all employees;
• Maintain/ exceed productivity consistent with budgeted labor and material standards. Maintain individual productivity and quality records on operators;
• Use continuous improvement techniques to develop ways to increase productivity and product quality;
• Manage manufacturing resources to produce products in accordance with organizational schedules in an efficient / timely manner while using established quality policies & procedures, and product specifications;
• Communicate daily with the Operations Manager for timely reports of production, personnel and equipment;
• Maintain communication with 1st & 2nd Shift Leads to ensure each shift production team is aware of relevant announcements, and daily organizational goals and objectives;
• Hold daily pre-shift meeting and make staffing adjustments dependent on attendance, production goals and equipment availability;
• Other tasks and functions consistent with team and production leadership as directed by the Operations Manager
  
  

Knowledge/Skills

• Must be highly motivated and capable of self-direction
• Excellent written and oral skills
• Ability to establish priorities while being flexible to accommodate changes
• Working knowledge of Lean Methodology
• Working knowledge of ERP
• Frontline leadership to motivate 3-5 hourly employees comprising the 3rd Shift
  
  

Education

High School or equivalent

Experience

Minimum of 5 years experience in front-line manufacturing

Preferred: 5 years experience leading front-line manufacturing as Team Lead, Supervisor or equivalent

Working knowledge of techniques of manufacturing supervision, production control, safety and human resources.
